About Juliet Fawcus

Juliet FawcusAs a self taught milliner, Juliet started designing headpieces for her friend's weddings six years ago. However she quickly found that word-of-mouth recommendation created enough demand for her to set up in business.

As a result, her label, Juliet Fawcus, was born. It was launched almost five years ago at a collaborative show with the artist Maddy Paternot, where body-painted models wore Juliet Fawcus headwear inspired by Maddy's paintings.

After a year, she went on to design seasonal collections for several boutique labels including the Notting Hill-based "L Boutique". Butterflies play a big part in Juliet's collections, their colours and fragility reflected in many of her pieces. However, in the case of Juliet's bespoke designs, much of the inspiration comes from the person for whom she's designing.

Clients can be completely certain that the finished work will reflect their own style and that they will be the owner of an individual, handmade work of art. It is Juliet's conviction that as framework for the face, the piece should mirror it when worn.

Every piece shown on this website can be dyed to match any particular outfit. There is an approximate lead-time of six weeks for made-to-measure pieces but this can be shorther depending on which materials are used.

Juliet also draws on a variety of creative sources including the Art Deco movement, the Far East where she lived from 1995 - 2000 in Hong Kong and the Oxfordshire countryside where she lives now. These influences help her select the most appropriate fabrics and medium for each design.

Prices for butterflies start from £25 and a simple headpiece costs from £70. The bespoke service prices start from £150.
